Support the campaign – or the Lieutenant will get shouty!
Many of you may be aware already, but the 50th anniversary of the first airing of Columbo Prescription: Murder is flying towards us!
This seminal slice of TV history debuted on screens on 20 February 1968 and at time of writing that means the 50th anniversary is less than 8 months away!

I’ve written a longer article about my wishlist for how this momentous occasion ought to be marked. You can read it here. Only problem is that many of them look like wishful thinking and I’ve yet to hear any indication that anything special is planned to commemorate the show’s debut. However, there’s one of them that is entirely doable and a realistic goal: a Columbo Google Doodle.
Just about the whole world would know about it if if Google paid Columbo the ultimate tribute and created a special themed Doodle to mark Prescription‘s 50th anniversary.
As far as I’m aware there’s never been anything remotely Columbo-related on the Google landing page. It would be so cool to that change! And here’s how we can make our voices heard…
What you can do to support the Columbo Google Doodle campaign
If you’d like to see this happen, get onto Google about it! Simply send an email to proposals@google.com to put in your request! I have done and will do so again. Repeatedly.

Please can you create a Google Doodle to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the first airing of Columbo Prescription: Murder. This will be on 20 February 2018.
Columbo is one of the greatest TV shows of all time and this would be an amazing tribute!

The Google gang doubtless receives hundreds of requests every day, but if we can get a groundswell of support, who knows – maybe we can make it happen! It can’t hurt to try, anyway. Columbo deserves it!

prescription murder is one of my favorite episodes , Dr Fleming was a real scumbag , I absolutely love the interrogation scene at the film studios and Katherine justice/mrs Hudson was a beauty one of the fairest ladys in the series on the whole a very memorable episode , I prefer this pilot to Ransom for a dead man I just think its better in general .

It’s awesome isn’t it? I only discovered it myself this weekend.
Would it help if we proposed a specific Google Doodle idea for Google to use? In my experience, people are more apt to act on your proposal if you don’t appear to be dumping all the work into their laps.
I don’t think so on this occasion. They’ve got such a big creative team as it is, and come up with such interesting concepts that I reckon they could take any idea and run with it.
I sent in my email. Suggested the headlights of Columbo’s car would be perfect for the “oo” in “Google”…..
