If you heart the good Lieutenant, my first recommendation to you would be to go out and buy the entire Columbo box set on DVD as soon as you’re able.
If you’re in the UK or USA, Amazon regularly runs special offers of the complete series box set for as little as $50 / Β£30. It’s the steal of the century!
But if you’ve already done that, there remain some excellent resources online to help you strengthen your interest in Columbo and connect with fellow fans across the world.
Columbo locations map
Fantastic resource for serious fans, the interactive Columbo locations Google map features nearly 200 locations from the show’s 70s’ series, with more being added all the time! View below, or on a standalone page here.
@columbophile on Twitter: Yes, I am active in Twitter circles and would be delighted to make your acquaintance there. You can visit my page here.
#ColumboTV: There’s a very strong Columbo community active on Twitter and one of the most delightful innovations of the social media age is the monthly #ColumboTV phenomenon, which kicked off in 2012. A group of fans across the world synchronise watches and live tweet simultaneously to a particular episode nominated by an event host, uisng the hashtag in every tweet.
Read more about why #ColumboTV is such fun here.

Columbophile on Facebook: The Lieutenant Columbo Facebook page was created in August 2015 and has well over 10,000 followers! Visit www.facebook.com/columbophile and say hello!
Columbo TV Family group: A spin-off enterprise from the Twitter #ColumboTV gang, this growing, closed group consists of several hundred aficionados of the series. Sterling Columbo conversations abound! Visit the page here.
Columbo Appreciation Society: A closed group, but one that will welcome any Columbo fan with open arms, this page has 9000+ members and is constantly awash with chit-chat about the show and its stars. Visit the page here.
Columbophile on Instagram: Yes, I’m active here too, posting marvellous images from the show – or from the life of Peter Falk – on a regular basis. Visit my Instagram page here.

Websites
The Ultimate Lieutenant Columbo Site: It’s an oldie, which hasn’t been updated for some years, and isn’t mobile optimised, but if you’re looking for a wealth of information about the show, the episodes, its characters and a whole lot more, there’s still much to recommend it. Visit the site here.
Jigsaw Planet: If you love Columbo AND jigsaw puzzles, fill your boots with this online treasure trove of, you guessed it, Columbo jigsaw puzzles! Get to it here!
Video

The official Columbo YouTube channel: this launched in second half of 2017 and uploads new videos each week. These could be anything from legendary scenes, best-of compilation clips and FULL EPISODES! Visit the channel here. Sadly I cannot guarantee full episodes are viewable in all jurisdictions, but I can view them fine in Australia so hopefully you can too!
The Columbophile YouTube channel: Launched in February 2019, this serves as a home to a number of playlists compiling full episodes, Columbo‘s greatest scenes, musical interludes and contributor interviews – all from one handy location. Visit the channel here.
Podcasts
The Columbo Podcast: Scottish duo Gerry and Iain – one a long-time fan, the other a relative newcomer – tackle each episode in order in a friendly, informal podcast. For full details, or to listen online, visit www.columbopodcast.com
Just One More Thing: Hosted by US-based Jon Morris and RJ White, and featuring a special guest each time, this podcast is an irreverent look back at all the episodes in no particular order. Listen or download here.
Columbo Confab: I haven’t actually ever listened to this one, but from Twitter interactions they seem like a fun duo. Check ’em out here. From what I hear there’s a lot of blue language, so keep that in mind.
So that about covers it. If you have any recommendations for excellent online Columbo resources, please shoot me a message!

Where can I watch Columbo episodes dubbed into Italian? I would like to watch the individual episodes or buy a box set with the audio available in Italian. Thanks.
https://www.amazon.com/TV-Columbo-Komplette-zweite-Staffel/dp/B000AM1LJC
The title is in German but the description indicates that it has Italian subtitles as an option.
primevideo got seasons from 1 to 7 in many languages. BTW, the italian dubbing is excellent
Just got your book! Loving it. I happened to be watching Requiem For a Falling Star when your book arrived so I went right to that in your book.
I have to say I donβt think Jerry Parks knew Nora had murdered her husband. The most he knew was Nora had cheated the studio out of a few million dollars. Jean Davis knew and that is why she had to be killed. Nora was afraid Jean would tell Jerry because they had become close.
What do you think?
Yes, that is the reasoning behind Jean’s killing (poor thing). Shame Nora didn’t have more faith in Jean to keep a secret. It’s pretty ruthless to kill a faithful assistant after so many years.
It’s a shame Hal Holbrook was never in an episode. He would have been good.
Another new Columbo book! We’re living in a golden age of Columbo scholarship.

Iβm awaiting my copy of this book currently!
I have been listening to the Columboys podcast. I’m only three episodes in but so far it has been good.

Heads Up: New Columbo book coming out soon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1783209852/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_5?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1
Hello! what a fun site!! In the background of a picture showing a famous Universal movie car, I saw TWO Columbo cars parked together! Been watching episodes lately and doing a little research on the car. I’ve seen some good shots of the car in the Universal lot, but never two at the saw time. Let me know if you’d like me to email you the shot.
Used to watch Columbo with my Dad as a kid and he was like Columbo a little. Worked as a detective for the state, mainly fraud. Had a badge, no gun.
Another thought…Columbo is always saying to the killer, “oh, my wife just loves you, she thinks you’re the greatest…” or words to that effect. Poor Mrs. Columbo…all her favorite people turn out to be killers! Must be devastating for her!!

Could someone please tell us why certain episodes are repeated on METV more than others? Although episodes can now also be seen of Sundance, I’ve been watching on METV for years. Is the frequency of any particular episode due to royalties/copywrights, or possibly fan preference(hard to imagine fans are taken into account)? Many of the more “obscure” episodes are interesting and it’s a shame they don’t get viewed very often.
I watched Columbo in the 70s but inevitably missed some episodes. I was given the box set for Xmas and we’ve watched usually an episode several times a week and are now into Season 5. Some 50 years later I do occasionally fall asleep near the end, but always do a recap.
I’ve loved almost every episode so far especially the ones with Robert Vaughan, Patrick McGoohan and Dick Van Dyke, Roddy McDowall, Ray Milland, Leonard Nimoy, Donald Pleasence and Johnny Cash.
I particularly like this blog because it has British bent.
Thank you! I like to maintain as many Britishisms in my writing as I can!
Are the twitter events still being held? Did not see in calendar. Thanks.
Has anyone got an update on a release date for the UK BluRay collection? I know there is a season 1&2 now available on BluRay. But is there a release date for the full series collection on BluRay? Like the Japan version. Any update would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I havenβt heard of a full release date, sorry. I had heard it was due to be released in March 2018 but that didnβt happen.
For websites, I would recommend radioactive-studios.com/biohazard-films. It isn’t exclusively Columbo, but has a large section of Columbo facts, analyses, episode commentaries, et cetera. I have no connection to it, so I’m not shilling BTW.c
Hi Charles, no shilling suspected! It is a very good site. I didnβt include it here because it doesnβt solely focus on Columbo but Iβm due to update this page soon and may well slot it in.
Hello, some fans of the show and myself are thinking of writing an audiobook series about columbo, would your website ever be interested in featuring an episode to help raise awareness? knowing we have an audience would be some extra motivation! thanks for your time π
Hi Brad, Iβd be interested in finding out more. You can email me if easier? Email address is on the About Columbophile page!
My friend Steve and I just started a “Columbo” podcast of our own, “The Columbo Confab Podcast”. You can find it on iTunes or dowload episodes here: http://columboconfab.libsyn.com/.
Steve just started watching the show recently and I know practically every episode by heart, so I think we work well together (although I yammer on a bit, probably because I’m always enjoying an adult beverage while recording). There’s some salty language in there, so listener beware, although there’s nothing offensive (I hope). Give it a listen!
Hello, I am wondering if anyone has the original source information for this picture. I just joined the Twitter and Facebook groups and am doing some academic research on Columbo as well as being a lifelong fan. Any help would be appreciated.

Opps, here is the web address of the photo of him reading Mad Magazine to which I was referring in the previous comment: https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/be/e8/c6/bee8c600f6fef3938d9b801ff9d59c93.jpg
I get pleasure from, result in I discovered just what I was
looking for. You’ve ended my four day lengthy hunt! God Bless you man. Have a great day.
Bye
What was it you were looking for?
The local library! My local library has many Columbo seasons. That’s a great place to get them for free.
That’s a great resource indeed. I’ve never seen Columbo available at any libraries I’ve been at.
Thank you for including The Columbo Case Files β and for giving me the “heads-up!” on still more awesome Columbo stuff online!
No problem, Paul. Thanks for sharing articles from the site! I suspect I’m only at the tip of the iceberg in what’s out there, although what’s included here is generally of decent quality.
